Teppo Turkki
Non-fiction author
Teppo Turkki is a non-fiction author, researcher, and expert in strategic foresight. He specializes in the societal and future developments of the Indo-Pacific region, particularly Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan.
Turkki has worked as a leading East Asia expert for Sitra and TEKES, which led him to relocate to Taiwan in the autumn of 2012 as a visiting researcher. He is affiliated with the Institute of International Relations (IIR) at Taiwan’s National Chengchi University and, since 2014, has also served as Finland's official representative in Taiwan for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
From 2016 to 2021, he served as the Science, Technology, and Innovation Counsellor at Finland’s embassies in Japan and South Korea. Previously, Turkki held the position of director at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra.
After returning to Finland from Japan in 2021, Turkki was invited as a special advisor to the Smart City Institute Japan, part of the Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting Think Tank. In the same year, South Korea's leading strategic research institute, the Korea Development Institute (KDI), invited Turkki to serve as a policy advisor.
Earlier in his career, Turkki founded Radio City and developed the Yölinja discussion program. He has also worked at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, the University of Jyväskylä, and as an executive advisor at Elisa. As a researcher, he has been affiliated with Waseda University in Tokyo and the International University of Japan.
