Susanna Pettersson

CEO of the Finnish Cultural Foundation

Ph.D. Susanna Pettersson is the CEO of the Finnish Cultural Foundation and an adjunct professor of museology at the University of Jyväskylä. With over thirty years of experience working in various organizations in Finland, the UK, and Sweden, she has held positions such as Director of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Director of the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki, Director of the Finnish Institute in London, and Director of the Alvar Aalto Foundation and Museum.

Pettersson is also active in academic and cultural boards, including memberships in the boards of Dextra Artes (Norway), the Nobel Center Foundation (Sweden), the Finnish Museum of Architecture and Design Foundation, the Timeout Foundation, and the Nordea Art Foundation.

Her publications and articles focus on museum history and collection research, as well as Finnish and Nordic art from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Her latest book, Nordic Art and Way of Life, co-edited with Anna-Maria von Bonsdorff, was published in autumn 2024 by Mercatorfonds.
