14. Concert: The Fancies of the Sun King
Sun, June 15th at 13
The Gymnastics Hall of the Lauttasaari Church
The Sun King is famously a lover of luxury, but he is also temperamental and demanding. A recipe for drama!
The Fancies of the Sun King is a dramatized and dynamic performance. It shares amusing, peculiar, and intriguing true stories about the life of Louis XIV, the Sun King who ruled France in the 17th century, accompanied by baroque music composed for the court of Versailles.
The court of the capricious and demanding Sun King, who adored art and luxury, becomes a setting for conflicts that draw the audience into absurd events. These stories also invite reflection on themes like maintaining appearances, the exercise of power, and the realization of social equality.
