Iiris Piri
Cello
Cellist Iiris Piri (b. 2002) studies at the Sibelius Academy under the guidance of Marko Ylönen. Previously, she studied in the youth program of the Sibelius Academy with Hannu Kiiski, and before that at the Lahti Conservatory. Piri has also attended the Cello Academy.
In the autumn of 2021, Iiris Piri achieved a shared 3rd place in the Porvoo Cello Competition, and in the following year, she participated in the Turku Cello Competition, where she advanced to the semifinals. Piri has performed at festivals such as the KesäVirratSoi, the Varkaus KesäKlassinen, the Naantali Music Festival, and the Fiskars Festival.
In masterclasses, Piri has received instruction from Arto Noras, Frans Helmerson, and Niklas Schmidt, among others. She has appeared as an orchestra soloist multiple times, including at the Sinfonia Lahti Young Soloists' concerts. Iiris Piri currently plays an Albert Jacquot cello owned by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
