Charlotta Westerback

Viola

Helsinki-based violist Charlotta Westerback began her studies in 2006 at the East Helsinki Music Institute under Tiina Konttinen. She continued her studies in the youth department of the Sibelius Academy, with teachers Teemu Kupiainen and Pirkko Simojoki. Since 2018, Westerback has been studying under Simojoki at the Sibelius Academy. At the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in southern Switzerland, she has been mentored by Yuval Gotlibovich. Additionally, Westerback has participated in numerous international masterclasses across Europe.

As an experienced chamber musician, Westerback has performed at several Finnish chamber music festivals, including the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, the Tammisaari Summer Concert Series, the Rauma Festivo, and the Radalla Festival. In 2023, she was selected as a Young Artist for the Hauho Music Festival and as a performer for the Pro Musica Foundation's annual autumn concert (formerly known as “Young Musicians of the Year”).

As a soloist, Westerback has performed with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Wegelius Chamber Strings, and the Voluntas Chamber Orchestra. In the 2022 National Viola Competition in Oulu, she received the award for the best interpretation of a Finnish composition.
