Minna Lindgren

Minna Lindgren

Author

Minna Lindgren is a versatile author, journalist, and beloved opera expert. Her latest novel, Sävelsinkö (2023), is a clever and humorous work that explores the difficulty of mutual understanding among people and the various ways one's entire life's work can be interpreted.

Lindgren has written several non-fiction books on music, with her latest, Minun oopperani – epätäydellinen historia (2022), becoming a resounding success. True to its name, Minun oopperani (My Opera – An Imperfect History) is a subjective overview of the opera world, and as an imperfect history, it selects the elements it desires from the story of opera. She has also authored the immensely popular Ehtoolehto series (The Lavender Ladies Detective Agency), translated into nearly 20 languages.

In addition to her writing, Lindgren has crafted librettos for operas, including Iiro Rantala's Pikaparantola (2018) and Olli Kortekangas' Jannen salaisuus (2015). In 2020, Lindgren created an entirely new story for the opera libretto Covid fan tutte (Scenes from the Spring of Corona), a one-act version of Mozart's opera Cosi fan tutte.
